William Serrano

February 28, 1951 - February 28, 2024

Our hearts are broken as we mourn the unexpected loss of our beloved William Serrano. William Serrano was born on February 28, 1951 in New York City. He was born with the most beautiful blue eyes. He was 1 of 4 children born to Ana and Epifanio Serrano. He had 2 brothers and 1 sister. William (“Willie”) loved the martial arts and enjoyed watching Bruce Lee films and ALL action and horror films. He enjoyed going to the movies with his daughter, eating great meals especially at one of his favorite restaurants - Ohana Japanese Hibachi Seafood & Steakhouse in City Island and vacationing in the Caribbean with Ana. Out of the many islands Willie visited, his favorite island was Puerto Rico!! This is why he always said he wanted to return to Puerto Rico…His wishes will be granted and we will take the trip to Puerto Rico in order to bring Willie back there. Willie worked for the Parks Department for many years and later on went to work as a bus operator with the MTA. He was always a hard worker and rarely ever missed a day of work. He took his work very serious. His work ethic was like no other. Willie was a talker and he enjoyed meeting new people. He met many “friends” during his numerous bus routes. He would always beep the horn to say “Hi” if he knew you as he was driving. Willie is survived by his only child, his daughter Kyleen, grand-daughters Kariana and Kaeli Diaz, his nephew (who was more like the son he never had), Rene Serrano, his sister, Nydia and a couple of extended family members. Willie was a jokester and LOVED Hard!! He had a strong character and things were either black or white - there was never a gray area. He was disciplined, strict and tough, but he had a HEART of gold. He had a sensitive side not everyone would see. He cried during sentimental movies and even cried during St. Jude commercials. He was extremely generous with his donations to St. Jude. He also played Lotto for over 30 years because he was confident one day he would win BIG. Willie was a great man and extremely generous with those he loved. He will be missed tremendously. We invite all family, friends and those whose lives were touched by Willie’s spirit to join us in honoring his memory and celebrating the love he brought to our lives. Visitation and a simple Celebration of Willie’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at City Funeral Service (Bryn Mawr Chapel), 23 Lockwood Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10701 between the hours of 2pm-5pm.
